This ring is inspired by the Mt Tūhua. Situated inland of Hokitika and to the east of Lake Kaniere, Mt Tūhua stands at an elevation of 1034 meters. Mt Tūhua is an important landmark and maunga of Ngāti Waewae. As told in the pūrākau (narrative and oral traditions) - Poutini & Waitaiki, Tamaahua named the maunga, surrounding Waitaiki, Tūhua, to remind her of her home and where she comes from. Renowned for its captivating vistas, many coasters, find special significance in trekking to the summit, where they are rewarded with stunning views extending out to the sea.
